The KIP has the enormous advantage of being usable despite the absence of a network: it was actually designed for these environments! Wherever you are, with or without network coverage, the rescue teams connect directly to your KIP via their dedicated equipment. This means that you can be quickly located and retrieved, anywhere. This specific equipment is currently being deployed in France and is already adopted by rescue teams in the French Alps. Wherever you are, as long as it is turned on, your KIP continues to transmit your positions in all circumstances! If you’re not in motion your coordinates will not be refreshed but your last known position will be shared. Check out the KIP network coverage here.
